Carlson Software and HydroCAD Form Alliance
A new alliance between Carlson Software Inc. and HydroCAD Software Solutions, LLC, to take advantage of the strengths of both companies and to benefit both companies' customers was recently revealed at the Carlson Silver Anniversary User Conference. CGFile

  • Current Information: This dialog box lets you quickly see what files are currently open and what points are currently being used
  • Coordinate File: These options allow you to create new, open, or close coordinate files as well as convert to and from ASCII files.
  • Close Files: Close the currently open Raw, Map or Cross Section files
  • CGDOS Drawings: Convert an existing CGDOS *.PL1 file to a *.DWG file in just moments and maintain all of the graphics attributes.
  • Convert Files: Quickly convert CGDOS level, raw, cross section and template files to the new format.
  • Print/View Print File: Print or view the current Print File.
  • Empty Print File: Clear all the data from the Print File.
  • CGSurvey Help: Help file.
  • About C&G: Check the version, registration and serial  number of your software.

CGTrav

  • Quick Traverse: Quick angle/bearing and distance input without adjustment
  • SurvNET: This advanced network least-squares not only reduces total station, GPS and level data but reduces them simultaneously and meets ALTA Standards.
  • CGEditor: Edit raw data, map check, cross section. template, Coordinate and point batch files easily in spread sheet format.
  • Level File editor: Reduce and balance levels in a spread sheet editor

CGCogo

  • Inverse: Quickly displays the Bearing or Azimuth and distance between two points or the infomation along a curve if selected.
  • Intersects: Computes coordinates based in bearings, distances, perpendiculars along with offsets as needed.. 
  • Station Offsets: Will display the center line file, compute coordinates from station-offset distance, compute station-offset from coordinate, or create a point file from station-offsets    
  • Point on Line: Create points along a line, arc or points file.
  • Curves: Create horizontal and vertical curves as well spiral curves and generate stake out files for crews.
  • Area: Use the area command to subdivide properties using tools such as Bearing Area Cut-off, Hinge/Radial Area Cut-off  and Area Summary.  
  • Roadways: Use this routine to compute R/W coordinates based on an alignment and the offsets left and right.  This routine also computes several different cul-de-sac solutions.
  • Fit Structure: Place a foundation on a lot with in the setbacks easily and then press a key and create the coordinates for stakeout.
  • Stake-Out: Quickly generate a printout for the crew to take to the field for layout.
  • Best Fit: This routine will determine the best fit line or curve for a series of points.
  • Angle & Distance Resection:  Determine location based on angles or distances between unknown point and known points.
  • Triangulation: Compute coordinates of a point based on 2 angle sets from known points.
  • NAD83: This function computes Longitude and latitude to and from NAD83 state plane coordinate systems.
  • Solar Observation: Compute North and/or Grid North bearings using the local hour method. 
  • Public Land Section: Performs Section Subdivision and GLO-Corner-Proportioning calculations.
  • Legal Description: Write the legal description using the C&G coordinates.
  • Dead Reader: enter the ASCII or TXT data for the deed, by hand, or by cut and paste or read deed data from deed file

CGDraw

  • Drawing Sttings: This dialog allows you to set the drawing scale, text size, and label parameters.
  • Set Line Type: Select the line type from AutoCAD, AutoCAD ISO or C&G linetypes.
  • Global Edit: Allows you to easily edit layer, color, font, linetype, symbol and more of an entity or group of entities.    
  • Legend: Create and or edit your own legend using the symbol library, linetypes, and hatch patterns.
  • Border: Set the border based on sheet size, offsets, layer, color and line thickness.
  • Coordinate Grid: Generate grid major and minor lines and borders for your work sheet.     
  • Text on Arc: define a radius point and a radius length either based on CG Points or pick and drag, the type and place you text.
  • Label Area: Select a poly line or use a CG-Point Group and label the area
  • Draw Mapcheck: Simple select the mapcheck file and select a starting location and the mapcheck file will be drawn.
  • Multi-Draw: this routine allows you to perform several functions at the same time. Plot points, draw lines, place calls, build a coordinate table and build a call table one at a time or all at the same time. .
  • Plot Points and Symbols: use this routine to plot points, remove points, place graphic scale, text in symbol and insert symbols
  • Lines and Polylines:  draw lines and poly lines based on the CG coordinate file. 
  • Calls: place bearing, distance, arc, radius and select the layer for calls as well as other options.
  • Tables: build coordinate, curve and calls tables
  • Map: draw and erase map files
  • Leaders:  place text, coordinate, point label and station offset labels.
  • Query: use this tool to get C&G information about a graphic entity; coordinate file, point number, coordinates, elev., desc., point label position, etc,
  • Drawing Inspector: when turned on simple set the cursor on the C&G or AutoCAD entity and get instant info about the entity.
  • Drop CG Attributes: remove the C&G entity data from a graphic entity
  • Re-Associate Cord. File: allows user to associate a coordinate file of a different name to a drawing other than the one the drawing was originally created from.
  • Refresh Screen: simple refresh the C&G lines, arcs, calls, points, footprints, CG Polylines, coordinate tables, call tables and curve tables to any changes made to the coordinate file.

CG Coordinate Management (CGMngmt)

  • Point Manager: This dialog has all the general info on the coordinate file, size, location, description length, as well as tools to edit the name, format and add points.
  • Edit Coordinate File: this routine takes you directly to the CGEditor and shows the coordinate file in spreadsheet format, allowing you to edit the file using spreadsheet tools.
  • Auto Create Points: select graphic entities from the screen and C&G will create coordinate points for end points, radius points and insert points.    
  • Manual Storage: manually enter point number and either manually enter the N/E or pick a graphic entity and create the new coordinate
  • Show Used/Free Points: will display those groups of points that have been used and those that are available to be used.
  • Delete: use the CG selection tools to pick the points or groups of points to be deleted.    
  • Fix Coords: the C&G coordinate files are actually made up of 2 files, the CRD file and the IDX  file.  These files may get corrupted or the IDX file may get lost.  The fix file routine will check these files and repair if possible.
  • List: Select a poly line or use a CG-Point Group and label the area
  • Renumber Points: simple allows you to renumber a point or a group of points within the same file
  • Transformations: this routine performs rotation, translation functions.
  • Cut Sheet: compare groups of coordinates such as the design coordinates and the as built coordinates for deviation, latitude, departure and elevation.
  • Description Table:  Create, edit and select current description table. 
  • Point Groups: a group of associated point, say a centerline, or the points that make up the boundary, or the points that define the shape of a building
  • Refresh Status line: clears the command line

CGTopo

  • Topographic Settings: sets layer names for tin, contour and labels as well as interpolation range and label interval.
  • New Surface: this routine takes you directly to the CGEditor and shows the coordinate file in spreadsheet format, allowing you to edit the file using spreadsheet tools.

  • Tin From 3D Faces: this routine performs rotation, translation functions.
  • 3D Faces From TIN: compare groups of coordinates such as the design coordinates and the as built coordinates for deviation, latitude, departure and elevation.
  • Create Grid File:  Create, edit and select current description table. 
  • Plot Grid File: a group of associated point, say a centerline, or the points that make up the boundary, or the points that define the shape of a building

CG Earthwork  (CGEarth)

  • Cross Sections: create and edit user defined cross sections.  Generate gross section from contours, tin, template and coordinates
  • Templates: create and edit a template; such as a road section, an earthen dam..
  • Volumes: compare 2 sets of cross sections to generate a volume.    
  • Draw Cross Sections: draw the cross sections based on the interpolated or template files created, you can also superimpose one file on another to visuall compare the sections.
  • Profiles: select an alignment source typically a batch file and generate a profile of the contour or proposed grade.

CGTools

  • CGOptions: this dialog box contains all of the user settings: drawing scale, fonts, symbols, display settings, output paths, data paths, traverse settings, topographic settings, etc.
  • SurvNET: This advanced network least-squares not only reduces total station, GPS and level data but reduces them simultaneously and meets ALTA Standards
  • CGEditor: select graphic entities from the screen and C&G will create coordinate points for end points, radius points and insert points.    
  • Triangle Solutions: a simple to use triangle solution routine, simple enter the knowns and process the answers
  • 3D Viewer: look at your surface in 3D, exaggerate the scale and change view point
  • Copy Entity to Layer: duplicate an entity on another layer.
  • Change Entity Layer: change the layer of an existing entity
  • Layer Control: all the layer tools at the tip of you mouse, on/off, freeze/thaw, pick current and more.
  • Swrinkwrap: a closed polyline which encloses a given set of entities, useful in associating groups of points.
  • Polyline Tools: this routine performs rotation, translation functions.
  • 3D polyline Tools: compare groups of coordinates such as the design coordinates and the as built coordinates for deviation, latitude, departure and elevation.
  • Twist Screen:  Create, edit and select current description table. 
  • Layer Toggles: a group of associated point, say a centerline, or the points that make up the boundary, or the points that define the shape of a building
  • CGSnap: this routine performs rotation, translation functions.
