Compatibility, in the Field and in the Office

CG-FieldPlus is the most versatile field software package available. CG-FieldPlus collects raw data from all major brands of instruments. Data is then reduced using least squares adjustment, which allows data to be edited and corrected—all of which can be done in the field. A standard CG COGO file is generated in the exact same file format that our CG-SURVEY desktop software uses. CG can also convert to ASCII code for special transfers.

Using DOS based handheld computers is one of the major advantages to CG-FieldPlus software. Most field software is written specifically for a handheld that interfaces only with a total station of the same brand, using its own proprietary system for programs, data storage and instrument interface. Communicating with your desktop software can be difficult, especially if your desktop software doesn’t have an interface specifically for your data collector. CG solves this problem two ways. First we can communicate with all major brands of total stations, robotic total stations, lasers and GPS equipment, more than any other data collector software on the market. Second, because our field software is DOS based we can communicate with more desktop software packages than any other brand.

Do you have more than one brand of total stations in your office? If so, you probably have more than one brand of data collector. Your office technician has to know how to communicate with more than one brand of transfer software.  If the total stations are switched between crews, each crew also has to know how to run more than one data collection software.
