Also included are hundreds of enhancements to basic AutoCAD® commands. Note that Carlson Survey 2009 can be purchased individually or, for even greater savings, as part of the Carlson Civil Suite 2009, Carlson Survey 2009 runs atop AutoCAD versions 2000-2009, plus ICAD (IntelliCAD). Carlson is dedicated to giving its users a choice and in addition to developing on IntelliCAD, will continue to develop on AutoCAD and Map indefinitely going forward.

" Carlson Survey does it all for us – it’s a big time saver on all different levels. Platting seems to be easier because bearings and distances work better. The topography works a lot better – you can get TOPOs out quicker and the changes are minimal. Field-to-Finish is better because it connects all the line work for you. It just makes the whole process a lot easier. Every surveyor should have Carlson in their cad toolbox!  It’s the complete survey package with the best technical support on the market.” — Reed Adams, LS, Director of Land Surveying, Koontz-Bryant, Richmond, Va. (July 28, 2008)

Product History

On April 12th, 2006, after 18 years of excellent success in the survey market, Carlson Software officially retired SurvCADD, our original AutoCAD-based survey and civil design software. Carlson Software replaced the original SurvCADD with two new separate products -- Carlson Survey and Carlson Civil -- based on evolutions of SurvCADD’s three basic modules: survey, surface and design. And now we have Carlson Survey 2009 and Carlson Civil 2009.

Carlson Survey 2009 is designed for the surveyor while Carlson Civil 2009 is designed for the civil engineer. However, although these products are designed to be used independently, both packages communicate seamlessly with each other.

Carlson Survey 2009 has been designed to run inside AutoCAD 2009 and on IntelliCAD 6.4. It will also install and work inside AutoCAD 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2002 and even 2000. It is so versatile that it also installs and works with the newest and even older versions of AutoCAD Map, Land Desktop and Civil 3D. And it contains the Network Least Squares program called SurvNET.

Carlson SurvCE, our field data collection software, works together with our office software Carlson Survey 2009 for seamless integration from field to office and back. Carlson SurvCE works with all brands of survey equipment: conventional total stations, robotic total stations, and RTK GPS survey gear. Survey offices and survey departments throughout the US and the world are finding this obvious combination the most productive, straightforward survey solution for their field and office needs.

System Requirements (Standalone)

The recommended system requirements for Carlson Survey 2009 Embedded AutoCAD® are the similar to those of AutoCAD.

System requirements for users who are focusing on 2D drawing creation are as follows:

  • Intel® Pentium® IV processor recommended
  • Microsoft® Windows Vista™, Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional or Home Edition (SP1 or SP2), Windows XP Tablet PC Edition (SP2), or Windows 2000 (SP3 or SP4)
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 750 MB free disk space for installation
  • 1024x768 VGA display with true color
  • Microsoft® Internet Explorer 6.0 (SP1 or higher)

System requirements for users who are taking advantage of the new conceptual design capabilities are as follows:

  • Intel® processor 3.0 GHz or greater
  • Microsoft® Windows Vista™ or Windows XP Professional (SP2)
  • 2 GB RAM or greater
  • 2 GB of disk space available, not including installation
  • 1280x1024 32-bit color video display adapter (true color)
  • 128 MB or greater, OpenGL®-capable workstation class graphics card.

Less capable machines can run Carlson Survey 2009, but the results may be less than ideal. Sufficient swap space is also required to handle the installation of Carlson Survey 2009 as well as any data or drawing files saved. The use of additional memory or faster processors will directly improve performance and capacity.

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and Windows Vista 64-bit will allow application to run in 32-bit mode.
